Call for 2019-2020 CIC-AACN Board positions/officers - Submit by March 14th

Hello! It is time for our chapter to look to the future and add to the CIC-AACN Board of Directors. Serving on the board is a very rewarding experience and one way to grow professionally (and have fun along the way!). 

Board position descriptions are listed below.

Board meeting are held each month at 430pm prior to the monthly chapter meeting.

Expectation is to attend 80% of meetings- including the transition meeting held in July (date TBD)

CIC- AACN Board Roles/Accountabilities 

Overall the board is responsible for oversight of the chapter. 

*President-elect - Spend one year “precepting” with the President.  Term as President starts the following year. Must have one year of board experience prior to elect role. Should have strong leadership and communication skills and is knowledgeable about chapter governance.

  • President - One year commitment. The President presides over all meetings. Partners with board to develop goals/objectives. Oversees budget with treasurer. Executes contracts for CIC. Conducts June officer transition meeting. Typically coordinates our annual Critical Care Bowl in Sept.

*Treasurer-elect - Spend one year “precepting” with the Treasurer.  Term as Treasurer starts the following year. 

  • Treasurer - One year commitment. The Treasurer is responsible for all incoming and outgoing money as well as financial reports to the national office. Reports chapter finances at board meetings. Signs checks with co-signature (usually president or other board designee). Should have basic financial management knowledge. 

*Secretary-elect - Spend one year “precepting” with the Treasurer.  Term as Secretary starts the following year. The secretary is responsible for all minutes and agendas to meetings. If the secretary cannot attend an event, the secretary-elect or another board member may take minutes.

  • Secretary - This is a one year commitment. The secretary is responsible for all minutes and agendas to meetings (president creates agenda). Maintains chapter records.       Notifies board members of meetings and sends out minutes. Collects dues and works closely with membership at meetings for check-in process. 

Membership Apprentice – Spend one year “precepting” and working with current membership chair.

  • Membership Chair - This is a one year commitment. The membership chair(s) are responsible for advertisement for the chapter, renewal of memberships, and recruitment of new members. Will maintain CIC member database, provide membership cards and acknowledgement as well as notify members of expired memberships.

Programs-Apprentice - Spend one year “precepting” with the Programs chair.  Term as Programs Chair starts the following year.

  • Programs Chair – One year commitment. Responsible for coordinating all dinner meetings. Also known as industry relations role. 

Historian/social media - This is a one year commitment.  The Historian is responsible for keeping and sharing the history of the chapter.  May also take photographs for events.  As web master will maintain our website and Facebook correspondence.

Community Outreach - This is a one year commitment.  The Community chair is responsible for coordinating our monthly service project.  They collect any funds or goods and deliver them.  Also will report out to membership donations made, etc.

Past President – Advise board members. Helps oversee conduct.  Role of support and mentoring.
